    Autograph letter signed, one page, 5,5 x 8 inch, `Theatre des Bouffes Parisiens` stationery, Paris, n.d., in French, to Madame Porcher* - concerning a `Battu afair`, money, and tickets, written and signed in black ink "J. Offenbach", attractively mounted (removable) for display with a photograph, shows Jacques Offenbach in a chest-up portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with three horizontal letter folds and mild foxing along the lower edge - in fine condition. In parts (translated): "I have explained to Mr. Duhand the Battu affair, concerning the rest Battu must have spoken to you about it. Therefore I will kindly ask you to put into my account the sum of [...] and to settle at the end of the month my tickets, unless this bothers you too much, and if so I will wait [...] - J. Offenbach" * Jean Baptiste Porcher (1792-1864) and his wife were French Theatrical Agents who used to purchase copyrights and ticket passes for their authors, later reselling them at the entrance doors of theatres. He very often was advancing money to Dumas and other artists, sometimes keeping some manuscripts in pledge.
