The woman killed was Jill Barth, 60, of Clay, Syracuse police said Monday.
Barth was hit at about 12:05 a.m. Nov. 24 near Shifty’s Bar and Grill, 1401 Burnet Ave., Syracuse police said in a news release. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, John D. Adamy, 48, of Scott Avenue, was charged on Nov. 26 with leaving the scene of the accident without reporting it, resulting in death, according to police and jail records. He is being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center jail on $400,000 bail bond or $200,000 cash.
The night of the accident, Adamy stopped his vehicle, a 2004 Cadillac Deville, but then left the scene, police said in court documents. The collision was caught on surveillance videos, police said.
Adamy turned himself in to police 58 hours after the hit and run, according to court documents
After being read the Miranda rights, Adamy said “I would like to consult with a lawyer, I killed a lady and want to know if I’m facing 10 or 20 years,” police said in the court documents.
